Jonathan Van Nessis being accused of being “abusive” and having “rage issues” that caused a rift between theQueer EyeFab Five.

Rolling Stonespoke to seven production sources, who told the outlet in a report published Tuesday that the hairstylist was allegedly difficult to work with.

Reps for Van Ness, who is nonbinary, have not responded to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

The magazine’s sources described them as a “nightmare,” “monster,” and “demeaning,” and accused them of lashing out at crew members and those who worked closest to them. One source told the outlet that Van Ness “would explode at least once a week.”

A source claimed toRolling Stonethat Van Ness “stood out in terms of unprofessionalism, with their various moods dictating how the day would go.”

Van Ness' alleged behavior reportedly led to multiple members of the group being reluctant to shoot them. The outlet reports that Netflix had at least one meeting with Van Ness, but the sources said it resulted in “little change.”

Back in 2023, Van Ness told PEOPLEhe was impressed with his costars' work during season 7, praising Berk’s transformation of educator Jenni Sheckles' and deli owner Dan Stein’s homes.

“It’s with a heavy heart that I announce that season 8 will be my final season onQueer Eye. It’s not been an easy decision to be at peace with, but a necessary one. Although my journey withQueer Eyeis over, my journey with you is not. You will be seeing more of me very soon,” Berk shared in a lengthy Instagram post in November 2023.

The source told PEOPLE that Berk “has a handful of projects in development and is also busy with his own company.”

The Rolling Stonereport also saidQueer Eye’sfashion expert Tan France"campaigned" to have Berk replaced with Brentfollowing a falling out the two costars had.

Berk addressed the incident with France in a conversation withVanity Fairin January,sharing that the two “will be fine.”

“Tan and I had a moment. There was a situation, and that’s between Tan and I, and it has nothing to do with the show. It was something personal that had been brewing — and nothing romantic, just to clarify that,” he said.

“Should I have unfollowed Tan? No. Maybe I should have just muted him,” continued Berk. “But that day, I was angry, and that’s the end of it. We became like siblings — and siblings are always going to fight.”
