Five genre directors — Joe Dante ( Gremlins , Innerspace ) , Mick Garris ( The Stand ) , Alejandro Brugués ( Juan of the Dead ) , and Ryuhei Kitamura ( Versus , The Midnight Meat Train)—are joining forces for a fresh horror anthology film coif at a haunted theater , appropriately titled Nightmare Cinema .
Mickey Rourke virtuoso in the film ’s Twilight Zone - esque shape fib , as a mysterious type who operates the eerie theater ’s projector . Here ’s the pic ’s official synopsis :
A serial of down - on - their - luck individuals enter the decrepit and thorn - cool Rialto theater , only to have their deepest and darkest reverence lend to spirit on the silver screen by The Projectionist – a mystifying , ghostly figure who holds the nightmarish futures of all who go to his screening . By the prison term our patrons realize the truth , head for the hills is no longer an alternative . For once the ticket is tear , their fortune is seal at Nightmare Cinema .

Nightmare Cinema is still in the post - production phase , but will have a bearing at this weekend ’s Son of Monsterpalooza pattern in Southern California , where all of the theatre director ( pull through Kitamura ) will get together to show excerpts and hash out the moving-picture show . There ’s no acquittance appointment prepare yet , but the movie ’s press release notes that program are already underway to create a TV serial after the film , inspired by horror anthology shows like Tales From the Crypt .
