Okay , so the new TV docu - history Comic Books Unbound may not tell you anything you did n’t live already . But do n’t let that affright you off from the Movie Channel ’s potted account of the sensitive and how it ’s changed the fount of modernistic movies . There are even testimonies from Paul Pope and ( weirdly enough ) Selma Blair .
An hr - long docudrama sandwich between Spider - Man 3 and Ghost Rider , Comic Books Unbound is all about how comedian have taken over mainstream pop culture . refreshfully enough , it ’s not completely superhero - centric ( Fritz The Cat gets a shout out for shocking audiences by having animated cartoon fauna get it on and do drugs ) , and not entirely reverential to the big names . For example , this gossip on Mario Puzo ’s original script for Superman The Movie :
[ The producers ] feel he was a name , because of The Godfather . And he started the handwriting , and it was godawful . It was the story of some guys trying to stamp out the Pope . And that ’s not a Superman tale .

for certain , there ’s some mistrustful revising of fact – Spider - Man was apparently the first comic to ever depict drug use ? Superman was the only character wholesome enough to outlast a national socialist - esque purge of cartoon strip in the 1950s ? Seriously ?
At the same time , this docudrama is also one of the only place where you ’ll see star of the poorly - doom , 1980s picture version of Captain America and Fantastic Four talk about just how lousy their movies really are ( Clue : Very ) .
