With Eregion besieged , Sauron turn Adar ’s orcs against him , about bolt down Galadriel if not for one inconvenient cliff face , and , of course of study , finish the season with full control of the Nine Rings forge for deadly humankind . And with Ar - Pharazôn over in Númenor seeing imaginativeness of Halbrand in the palantir , anyone familiar with how Tolkien ’s pre - Lord of the Ringsworldbuilding goes have a go at it that Morgoth ’s former protégé is only just getting started .
“ I could n’t pick one , there ’s too much , ” Vickers recently assure io9 over Zoom of what he ’s most looking forwards to as Sauron really descend into his own run forrader . “ I authentically do n’t do it what is to come , but there are thing that we know in this time period have to happen . The floor that the show is go to secern , the downfall of Númenor , the creation of the One Ring , the battle of the Last Alliance , all of those things . It ’s like the last of Celebrimbor and the crafting of the closed chain – the exciting matter is that the crafting of the rings is just the first of many things that I have in my mind from reading the books … I ’m so excited to be a part of how these remaining story fall to life . ”

In a fitting flood tide at this point ofRings of Power‘s story , Vickers ’ Sauron – the mask of Annatartruly fallen at this point – pass much of his time in the time of year 2 finale battling , with barbs and blades alike , his two biggest vista married person on the series so far : Charles Edwards , bow down out in rebelliousness as Celebrimbor , and Morfydd Clark as Galadriel , as shefinds herself grimace - to - facewith the Deceiver once more . Locking swords with Galadriel for control of the Nine required Vickers to guess , and behave , in a way he ’s not really had to as Sauron up to this point in the serial .
“ For me it was all about economy . It was like , he has to contend in an economical agency where it required , especially early on in the fight , the most efficiency ” Vickers said of develop Sauron ’s fight style for duelling with Galadriel . “ That was part of my development of his move : there was nothing extraneous . And with combat , it was like … he is probably , in bridge player - to - hand combat , the most sinewy mortal in midway - ground . So what can show that ? For me that is like there ’s nothing fancy , it ’s how can I get my intention done over and over again , and how actual people fight . You see throughout that conflict scene he underestimates [ Galdriel ] , and she ’s secure , so he ’s starting to have to utilize more and more exertion to finish her off . ”
But for Vickers , it was one last instalment with Edwards deport a limited ringing more than anything else in the finis : many of his scenes in Eregion with the actor this season had been filmed in chronological order , so fix to the moment where Sauron isbrutally torturing the smith to deathcarried an extra weight . “ I think it was complex , because we were said that w were coming to the end of this really cool , amazing chance that we ’d had as performer , ” Vickers said of filming Celebrimbor ’s final moments . “ But then I was also really worked up , because these were the view that we were really count forward to . ”

“ It ’s kind of everything that guide to these scenes , you know ? [ Celebrimbor ] realizes that Eregion is falling , and Sauron reveal the blood trick to him , and then of course , Celebrimbor ’s demise . That was a view that has imagery that is really soak up from Tolkien ’s works , and we were so excited when we got to see that was happen , ” Vickers uphold . “ That was a big twenty-four hour period , and it was really … a really lovely way to end . It cause me vocalize very sadistic when I say that , ” the actor joke . “ But you know , from a execution perspective ! ”
Celebrimbor might come to his conclusion a pincushion of pointer and raised up on a spear by Sauron , but he gets one final act of defiance against his operator , anathemise him that the ring he ’d falsify Celebrimbor into craft will ultimately be his day of reckoning – the remark that send Sauron into the secondary rage that finally strikes Celebrimbor down , moment after he was still endeavor to change state him to his side . “ I think there ’s probably a bit of ego - thoughtfulness [ coming out of season 2 ] , ” Vickers said of just how much Celebrimbor ’s final wordsreallygot to Sauron . “ Celebrimbor quite clearly enunciate to him , ‘ Youarethe Lord of the Rings , and they ’re controlling you , ’ but Sauron , because he ’s all about control , and I opine he truly believes that these ring are going to do trade good for Middle - earth , I think Celebrimbor makes him realise that he ’s descended into lyssa , and darkness , and that this desire for command has become something far more hideous .
“ And that have Sauron a caboodle of sadness , and wrath , and rage , really . When [ the episode ] leave on him with Fëanor ’s hammer , he ’s opine about everything that had follow before and everuthing that is to hail . That ’s why their human relationship was so beneficial , because it ’s not just like puppet and tool original . It work on both ways . ”
