Shanghai opened its 2010 World Expo to the world for a test run today , and everyone catch a better looking at at the astonishing futuristic architecture , much of it made with sustainable materials . Take a virtual tour below .
We screw the fact that there ’s a new World Expo , since these sorts of events usually lionize an optimistic perspective of the futurity — something we ’re painfully in need of right now . With Iron Man 2 ’s plot apparently revolve around a fictitious Stark Expo from the 1970s and Tony Stark ’s attempt to recreate it in the modern era , it ’s prison term for a new Expo building spree . And Shanghai , semi - officially the most futuristic metropolis now that Dubai has fall on hard times , is the perfect place to host it .
Some pretty means - out building purpose were being floated a while back for this expo , and some of the craziest are prominently not showing up among the photos we ’ve looked through so far . In particular , Macau was suppose to have a building shaped like an enormous rabbit , and Denmark ’s marquee looked all harebrained .
