In last nighttime ’s Arrow , nearly every persona made a huge mistake , but all those mistake will add up to one hell of a great season next year . permit ’s talk about a finale that delivers a lot of action , and the hope of another demented year .
The Arrow close , “ Unthinkable , “ was quite a ride . Specifically , it was Space Mountain , because most of us did not see what was come for much of the sequence . That ’s impressive , consider we all knew how the meaty parts of the episode would go . I did not agree with almost any of the decisions made by the characters – but those were some entertaining errors .
As always , I make an exception for Dig and Lyla . They almost always do the right affair . When we open , Roy has just popped back to aliveness , all heal , and Slade ’s goons are attacking the clock tower . The Arrow team makes it out , but the supersoldiers are after them . And then Lyla comes in on a eggbeater and blast the entire tugboat to pieces . Okay , its functionary . Between this and The Losers we see that there is no way for a cleaning lady not to take care attractive when she ’s carrying a bazooka . I ’m gon na acquit one or else of a purse from now on . I doubt I ’d find one to match my outfits , but I ’m willing to bet no one would point that out to me . Dig ’s niggling “ my hero ” smile when he looks at Lyla shows that he agrees with my ending .
When the squad regroup , after various adventure , their grouping has boom considerably . Roy ’s awake , and has Roymnesia – defined as forgetting all the bad things you did when you were superdrugged . Felicity pass water her first spoiled choice of the episode and decides to tell him he was just unconscious the entire sentence , sending him back out into society an unintentional bull killer whale . That ca n’t backfire . Sara ’s also back with the group , and she ’s work Nyssa and Nyssa ’s team of assassins . Nobody is happy about this , specially when they learn that Sara will be leaving with Nyssa . Sara want to check that Laurel is n’t any part of this – which Nyssa put by shooting a flit into Laurel ’s cervix and let her drop flat out onto cold concrete . Good one , Nyssa .
Ollie ’s shape for working with Nyssa is that Nyssa does n’t kill anyone . Guess what Nyssa does ? Yep . To Isabel – who just ca n’t get a good monologue in during this show . She ’s always disturb mid - speech . I ca n’t sound off too much about that , though , because Ollie and his thrive team have the cure for Mirakuru and are practicing the best kind of medicine – medication that you film and poke into people while they wildly attempt to fight you . If Grey ’s Anatomy were like this , I ’d find out . unluckily , Slade is good at elude syringe - tip arrow . Even more unfortunately , one of his lump has abduct Laurel , after close to knocking aside Quentin . I wo n’t calculate that against Nyssa . As we ’ve all seen , there is no secure spoke for Laurel Lance . Put her wherever , she ’s going to get snatch .
And this is where the history splits into parts , as Ollie tries to attack the job from multiple angles , most of them bad . Dig and Lyla , who are in electric charge of barricade the drone , go out to ARGUS , and break the devious super - criminals out of the lockdown so that they can storm Waller ’s ascendance elbow room . This , I believe , is also a error . Why would the criminals mechanically sustain Dig and Lyla , peculiarly if Waller can murder them ? But it works , and it gets us just a bit more time with Deadshot , who , every time he ’s on screenland , hold a case for having his own serial . have it off that deadpan banter .
The storming of the ARGUS Bastille does not go fit in to plan . Waller does not decide to call off the drone . rather , she snap up two guns and manoeuver them at Lyla and Dig , which I will admit is a honorable move . Then she prompt Lyla that this is treason , and that Lyla is putting hundreds of thousands of lives at risk . Really ? Hundreds of thousands ? Is n’t that exactly as many lives as you are sealed you are go to kill with that drone ? Do you even listen to the words coming out of your back talk , Waller ? Because I do , and they ’re excruciating . I will give thanks you for dedicate me ( and a very surprised Dig ) the news that Lyla is fraught , though . If it makes for more Dig and Lyla next time of year , I am all for it .
Ollie and Felicity head out to Ollie ’s give up house , and playact out the scene that will become notorious for breaking the collective center of Arrow ’s hearing . Ollie tells Felicity that she needs to outride at the mansion . He number close and say that Slade nobble Laurel because he want to kill the woman Ollie loved , but he got the wrong woman . inch even closer , he whispers , “ I eff you . Do you read ? ” Felicity rupture up and says , “ yes . ” Oh , Arrow . This was just brutal . It was brutal .
Elsewhere in the tale , we see that Thea really did shoot Daddy - dearest . And he could n’t be felicitous about it . The glorious psycho was disappointed that Tommy go bad to shoot him last time of year . As Thea did dissipate him – in his Kevlar - overcompensate breast – he conclude , “ You are really my daughter , and I could not be more proud . ” As for me , I could not be more pleased . Every bit of Thea ’s reaction was infused with a delectable brattiness – like a Italian rice infused with truffles . She makes begging a mad man to kill her quickly sound like a principessa telling her female parent to skip the lecture and just write a check for the hotel room she junk . And when she get hold out Merlyn is n’t going to down her , she ’s even uppish . Then she gets a call from Roy and decides to depart the railroad train station , and the society of the homo who lay aside her life sentence twice in half an hour , to go to the bad part of township and meet the swain who choked her .
When she gets there she tell Roy they need to leave town , and “ be whoever [ they ] want to be . ” He evidence her ( in his big mistake of the episode ) , that he does n’t know anything about the Arrow , but that he ’s “ done , ” and that they want to “ bulge over . ” He adds , “ Baby this town rips the bones from your back . It ’s a decease sand trap . It ’s a suicide rap . We got ta get out while we ’re young . ” Not really , but this is perfectly a Springsteen song . Rich girl runs from her bear down dada to the wretched son and they need to get out of town ! But first , he take to do one more thing ! She should just appease here , commit him , and carry them up . This ca n’t go faulty . Even when Thea finds Roy ’s obeisance . After all , every Springsteen call I know terminate mirthfully .
Slade ’s soldiers are massing in a tunnel , take out of town before the lagger strike come in ( again , great intellection , Waller ) but they are see by Ollie ’s crew , Nyssa ’s team , and Quentin ( who has recover from his hit by the clod ) . The good Guy go cure - wild , and inject them all with cures . Again , I care aesculapian dramas were like this . It ’s a safe battle . My favorite moment is when Nyssa economize Sara , and then Quentin saves Nyssa – because although he relieve her , he gives her the “ i hate you ” heart before continue with the scrap . Meanwhile , Slade ’s escaped , and he ’s got Felicity !
And that ’s not a problem . Because as presently as Ollie shows up he distracts Slade , and felicitousness squeeze a flit into Slade ’s neck . Laurel is also there , and Sara saves her , but as an audience we are distracted from that by our acrid tears . In a flashback , we see what when Ollie was saying , “ I sleep with you , do you understand ” he was push a therapeutic - dart into Felicity ’s paw . It was all a pseudo - out . You hurt me , Arrow . You cut me deep .
Slade and Ollie end up in a huge conflict , both now and in the past . Back near the Island , Ollie and Slade fight on Slade ’s newly torpedoed freighter . In the nowadays , they fight in Slade ’s den . Both fight are bitter . The current Ollie has lose his mother , and the past Ollie has fall behind Sara , who gets sucked out into the water while Slade chuckle , “ How many times are you going to watch her die . ” In the past , Ollie stabs Slade through the optic , seemingly kill him . That was a fault . In the present , Ollie ties Slade up and knocks him out . That was also a error .
Yes , I even know it ’s a error when Slade wakes up in a “ supermax ” prison house run by ARGUS on the Island . Ollie ’s made peace with Waller . It started with Ollie call in to Waller ’s control room , while she was still have got a stand - off with Dig and Lyla . He tells her that Slade is defeated and the regular army is cured . He also says , “ And this plan was really stupefied to set about with . You yourself view that it was n’t working . I mean , get along on . Bombing a whole metropolis for fifty guy ? Amanda , do you apply your full brain for figuring out which madam around you are significant ? There are trial for that at drug stores . Get it together . ” Anyway , Slade is still swearing retaliation when Ollie leaves , and I do n’t think those threats are idle . But , I for one , ca n’t hold back to see Slade come back in successive seasons with more and more ash grey in his hair .
Sara is also make sorry pick . She explains to Quentin that for the first time in her biography she is “ decide her own fate . ” And her fate , seemingly , is to leave her family and her billionaire boyfriend and go back to a league of assassinator – one of which seek to kill her mammy . Okay , then . Again , it ’s a huge mistake , but I like it . Why ? Because all time of year hoi polloi have been say that Sara was going to die . We all thought it . But she made it out alert . If this is what it takes to make that occur – ok .
Quentin hugs Sara goodbye , while Nyssa says , “ I know the power of a father ’s love and I will die before I let anything happen to your daughter . ”
Quentin cheerfully replies , “ Well , here ’s hoping ! ” And I laugh , and express mirth , and laugh . Then Quentin collapses , supposedly of the injury he got fighting the supersoldier , but really of I’m - Content - With - My - Life - Syndrome . That matter pack out more fancied parents than lightning striking the bleachers at a peewee soccer game .
And Thea has her own dread alternative . Well , two of them . First , she ’s break those long leather pants that look like golosh britches for incontinent yearling . second , because her boyfriend on the QT tried to make unnecessary the great unwashed , she is go off with her mass - murdering psychopath of a father to learn how not to be “ washy . ” I could not be more happy about this . This is all I ever wanted for this show and for me . This is the tv - show eq of having grandchild . Thank you , Arrow . I ’m so lofty to see what you ’ve become .
And to top thing off , Ollie finally get down off the island . In the final flashback he wake up in a hotel room in Hong Kong . Waller ’s there , and she want to talk to him . Knowing Amanda , she plausibly wants him to murder her neighbors because they do n’t clean up after their weenie or something . But it should be entertaining .
