The Moth Diaries is Marron ’s version of Rachel Klein ’s novel of the same name . Sarah “ Mary Tudor ” Bolger play Rebecca , a scholarly person at an all - girl embarkation schoolhouse who becomes leery Ernessa , play by Doctor Parnassus star Lily Cole , after Ernessa becomes suspiciously stuffy to fellow classmate Lucie .
