Last Nox ’s American Horror Story had all sorts of bitchy witching . So “ Witch Up , ” Lady , and bust out the “ We do n’t have the rights to Quija ” board , because it ’s prison term to fuck with some ghosts . belike literally , knowing this show .

Last night ’s historical hag flashback concenter on a coven of suffragette . And these witches were disturbed — not because they could n’t vote , but because of an axe manslayer call the Axeman , which is n’t tremendous inspired but that ’s OK because he was REALLY REAL .
Yes the Axeman ( like the character Angela Bassett and Kathy Bates are both playing ) was an existent serial killer in 1919 New Orleans . And as legend has it , he would spare the lives of those who play malarky in their homes . Or at least that ’s what a muckle of the citizenry in Ithiel Town believe ( and were encourage to consider by a collection of letter the Axeman allegedly sent to the closet ) .
This Axeman is played by the pepper - hirsute Danny Huston , an histrion I ’ve always liked for the way he kind of sings his duologue . So yes range him as a malarky instrumentalist who hacked to death non - jazz fans was a pretty smart as a whip conclusion , if not an obvious one . Also new to this dramatis personae : a few one-time dupe for the first season of American Horror Story flashbacks and Grace Gummar ( Meryl Streep ’s girl ) as drawing card of the honest-to-goodness - timey witches .
full honesty , I was n’t into the pre - flapper witches . The whole set up felt force . Perhaps it ’s heavy to contend with theslow “ Age of Aquarius ” step strut flashbackfrom the first season , but I kind of wait more from this talented batch of cleaning lady in the costume department . That is not to say I am without hope for this time point . I ’ve seen the flapper Supreme Wiccan painting on the walls of the Coven ’s abode , and I can not wait for that witch to charleston flop on over .

move on , yada yada … the girl shoot down the Axeman , and now he ’s snare in the house . This is classic American Horror Story , so if you have a problem with “ Boom ! New threat ! ” , then you should probably turn in from this series . Every calendar week there ’s some new oddball spook jump out of the ground front for sexuality . Thankfully ( and a BIG thankfully ) this show has Jessica Lange to anchor it , and a stack of historical Wikipedia look to give it a little spice ( Hey , at least it ’s “ real ” ) .
And the reality only continues on into the present timeline as Fiona QUEEN WITCH goes in for chemotherapy . This is the first sentence we ’ve seen Fiona act responsible , not just for herself , but for the well - being of her daughter . If you call up Cordelia has been blind by the most random Elvis attack ever in a downtown New Orleans lavatory on Halloween Nox . It was terrifying ( and seemingly not by the hand of Marie Laveau ) . This attack has left Cordelia reliant on her mother , Fiona who is all of a sudden seek to get her hoot together and stick around so she can care for her . But not without require if her hair would fall out first ( but we ’re not moderate it against her because Hell , we ’d take the same ) .
On the more positive side Cordelia ’s sudden blindness has opened her to new powers . She now has the gift of clairvoyance ( or third heart mountain — yes the metaphor is not lost on us , American Horror Story ) . And her new gifts bring out that her husband is a cheating trickster . So she give up him out .
But my friend , this is American Horror Story — no one just cheats on his wife here . You chicane on your wife with the decompose carcass of a half drained Panthera tigris touch who haunts the aisles of Room & Board . So of course , Cordelia ’s hubby skips over to Marie Laveau ’s home and is all “ whatamIgonnadonow ? ” AH HA , he ’s a enchantress Orion . Sent to kill all the witches by … marrying Cordelia ? ? ?
This , this seems needlessly complicated . Again , if Marie Laveau want to dim someone , as she enjoin , they would be unsighted . Why is she so sorry at vote down these witches ? Well , that ’s not entirely true , because Cordelia ’s hubby did defeat the redhead girl he was having an affair with , and now I know why . Because obviously he has to have sex with the Wiccan first before shooting them in the pinna — but I do n’t hump it ’s the whole tiger ghost thing again . Plus there is an HOUR of late night cable boob tube that needs filling and it ca n’t all be gorgeous god’s - eye view of this beautiful plantation home . So get thee to the humping .
OK so let ’s circle around back to the Axeman , who is apparently trapped in the house just for this sequence , and not for any of the other one before it . Zoe is still looking for Madison , so they expend a spirit board to find her . Even though Queenie evidence Zoe to not sleep together with spirits and release them , Zoe kick the bucket forward and order a smell she will secrete them . Then says LOL JUST pull the leg of EAT poop I’M A TERRIBLE stripling AND MAKE BAD DECISIONS . Which is somewhat consistent for her character reference thus far ( ahem , FrankenKyle ) .
The spirit show the miss where Madison ’s soundbox is hidden ( which was still just as megascopic as before ) and then Zoe remembers , “ oh right Stevie Nicks Wiccan , ” and heads off to the swampland . There she recover Stevie Witch bathing Kyle ( because remember we have space to fill up with as much nudity as the censor will take into account ) .
Kyle BREAKS STEVIE . Not Cool , Frankenkyle . This changes the entire deportment of the swamp crone — she has had it with Zoe ’s mother fucker . As she should . She no longer wants to be a part of her tribe , BURN . But you know what ? She had one affair , and that one thing was twirling to Stevie Nicks , and you soak her of that . FrankenKyle , you are truly a monster .
But since Swamp Witch is still fairly squeamish — she agrees to bring in Madison back to animation . And Madison follow back to animation a very Madison like entry :
Anyone catch her coughing out that cockroach , yeeeach .
So Madison is back . The Axeman finds his release and heads off to the first local bar , presumptively to have sex with Fiona . Because there are only 10 people in all of New Orleans , and that ’s the way it works . It ’s ok , we ’re in reality surprisingly happy to have undead Madison back . Which is weird , because I was happy to see her go . Perhaps it was all that frightful defiling of her cadaver . Yeah , I recall I ’m just glad that part is over . Until next week , which maybe will have Patti Lupone on again ? Or another cast member they ’ve bestow ? Who jazz ?
