Yesterday , Marvel premiere thefirst - ever house trailer forAnt - Man , and today we have the breakdown . What plot details and clues did we find sift through the tiny universe of this funny book hero ? rafts , plus Paul Rudd ’s new hero sandwich abs !
The trailer spread on a brace of the Bay Bridge between Oakland and San Francisco . Oooooook .
Cut to primary fictional character Scott Lang with his hands up . Are they on this bridge ?
First close - up on out hero Scott Lang ( played by Paul Rudd ) in the traditional “ movie burglar ” train of all black and a stocking cap . Things are not going well for Scott … because he ’s getting catch .
Looks like Ant - Man is going to play with the dependable guy live spoilt , who goes back to well , movie trope . That ’s cool , we care a good cat with a little bad in him ( see every Avenger besides Captain America ) .
Ah , good . This is good . Cue Hank Pym , the first Ant - Man , played by Michael Douglas . He has a voice - over that say , “ Scott , I ’ve been see you for a while now . ” And if you front at the top screen in his bunker spy room , you could see someone who look to be getting apprehend . So yes , I imagine Hank Pym is literally watching Scott Lang in this moment .
Pym continue with his part - over . Here it is in full :
“ Scott , I ’ve been watching you for a while now . You ’re different . Now do n’t rent anyone narrate you that you have nothing to provide . 2nd chances do n’t come around all that often . I indicate you take a really close expression at it . This is your chance to earn that spirit in your daughter ’s heart . To become the Cuban sandwich that she already think you are . It ’s not about saving our world . It ’s about saving theirs . Scott . I need you to be the Ant - Man . ”
Scott Lang is pitiful , presumably because he ’s in prison . Or “ different , ” like Pym ’s vocalism - over says , we do n’t know . There are actually a circle of Scott Lang face injection in this dawdler where he looks saturnine . I have a go at it some Paul Rudd aspect , but even this was a pile for me . A fan .
Scott Lang does the perp take the air to freedom . Now , I ’m thinking Lang go to jail and is released all in the same pic , giving him time to prove that he can reserve his own amongst the scoundrel in the penitentiary . See those sexy bandage over his eye ? That ’s a hero sandwich ’s wound ; he just does n’t know it yet . But also putting Lang in prison kind of testify he can kick ass ( if that ’s what he does “ inside ” ) .
More San Francisco shots . I think it ’s now been officially established that this Marvel movie will be pose in San Fran . This is right ; SF is fairly removed from the current hero mess in New York and Malibu , etc . Could be an interesting angle .
First appear at Pym ! look like he ’s peach to Scott Lang from inside a police office . Did Pym outpouring Lang on the consideration that he join his one - man Ant - Man furor ?

Pym ’s lab ? This is a considerably less high - tech set up than we imagined from the inventor behind the Pym Particles and founder of Pym Technologies . Is he a screwball shut - in ? break ? Or just bed ? belike retired as that is the whole item of the moving-picture show ( go along the legacy of Ant - Man down to a raw somebody ) .
Cut to more Lang expression and the first face at Scott Lang ’s girl ( do n’t worry there ’s more of her later ) . Looks like stage 5 Young Avengers is already get some groundwork .
shorten to some type of high - tech readiness . Totally unlike from the earlier garage lab we watch Pym in . you could state it ’s fancy because all the walls are glass . Fancy places are made of trash . And if you look through the glassful , you could see ( what I ’m assuming is ) Darren Cross ( Corey Stoll ) followed by Hope Van Dyne ( Evangeline Lilly ) . Therefore , I ’m inferring that this is Pym Tech , as both of these characters work there in the Marvel Cinematic Universe .

Bad Guy Darren Cross rove the field glass halls . This is the character who will finally become Yellowjacket . But how ? Inour previous interview with Corey Stoll , he suggest at how Cross would become a very potent , strong-arm force :
“ [ Darren Cross ] invents this case that can do everything that the Ant - Man suit can do , plus more . It ’s more militaristic , it ’s more advanced , it ’s armored … and then he is Yellowjacket . ”
But for now he ’s just Darren Cross , former protégé of Pym and current stolon of Pym ’s party .
In an interview withClevver MoviesStoll had this to say about Cross :
“ He is not a baddie in the vein of Thanos or Loki , who are villains that love it . He is a guy wire who is not that dissimilar from Michael Douglas ’ quality , Hank Pym . A glorious scientist , who is not ethically pure . I think a great matter about the whole film is that everybody in this movie is in those shades of gray a little bit . ”
Fancy science room ? Perhaps where the the great unwashed of Pym Tech go to play with Pym Particles ?

More shots of Lang with his kid and thinking and walking and HELLO , Ant - Man suit .
First stroke of Paul Rudd in the Ant - Man courting ! Standing in a shower , look a little ridic . Love it , love how low - let this “ test ” run is .
Another thing I really wish about the young Ant - Man courting is that you’re able to see Lang ’s eye through the helmet .
Then he miniaturizes ! It ’s really , really fast but you could see him cringe into little versions of himself , fairly standardized to the comics .

Michael Anthony Peña wear a Pym security system card , everyone .
Ant ’s fly that auditory sensation like helicopters when they set down ! Straight up the Ant world is dusty .
Another jibe of Ant - Man ’s eye through the helmet .
I think this was the aforementioned prison house fight I was expect judging from his exit prison wounds . But permit ’s be serious : what ’s Paul Rudd locomote to do in a prison conflict ? Charm them to end ?

Requisite shirtless Marvel Cuban sandwich abs shot . Jesuuuuuus .
Also , it look like Hope is the one who finds the wounded abs of Scott Lang , “ Oh hello , this is how I usually stand with my abs . ”
Meanwhile Hope is kicking ass over here .
This is the only dig that totally threw me for a loop . Where is this , what ’s the symbolization ? It ’s a bunch of people in covert ops power train agitate between tanks ? What ’s that dagger in the center of attention all about ( the symbol on top form of match the symbolic representation on the rampart ) .

A super blur shot of Ant - Man ride his ant supporter . The VFX on this movie have a farsighted , farseeing ways to go . So I ’m usurp this is why we ’re only seeing quick / foggy shots of the ANt Action . However I ’m care all the blues , and I get laid that there are ant in it . Hell . Yes .

And that ’s it . Honestly , I thought it would be peculiar . I ’m indisputable they ’re saving that material for down the route . I liked a lot of what I saw , but I did n’t bang the overall feel . Perhaps it was the euphony ? But that being said the Ant suit looks great and Paul Rudd is the best .
