Winner – Urban Decay in a Decade

The Bandra – Worli Sealink , a bridge circuit in the City of Mumbai , India unite two area of the Metro that take nearly 10 long time to construct and complete has already take off showing its inauspicious face . I was wandering about one good afternoon when it struck me that “ under the over ” would be a nifty office to get some pics . On my path , I had to take the air a great to deal with my equipment . Once i reach , I was overwhelmed by the sheer size of the bridge . All in all in made a good photography site and i trust you guys like it too . D300s – 18 - 200 mm VR – f8 – 1/250secs . – ISO-250

Patient Zero

I found this spot by chance event by taking a slightly unlike route to my original target destination . This is rearward of the old Pillsbury A Mill near downtown Minneapolis which carries the distinction of having never catch fire or exploding ( which seemingly is notable enough to justify mention on Wikipedia ) . It ’s an astonishingly heavy and mostly desert facility near a very active part of town .

There is a all-embracing variety of interesting subjects around the complex . I wish this particular shot because I thought that the door looked like patient zero ’s relief valve point in time in a zombie flick . fool with a Canon 5D Mark II with the 17 - 40 mm @ f/11,1/60th of a second , ISO 100 .

Buses

For the preceding decade I have drive the same road to work , past a plot of land that was once part of an old military base . For geezerhood it was dotted with abandon construction , remnants of the erstwhile infrastructure . On my daily campaign I have watched with interest group the evolution of this arena . At one clock time the one-time base was converted to a clientele park , the original buildings converted to more mundane uses , then one by one they were finally torn down . After the last building came down the commonwealth was leveled and go forth to the cony and the weeds for several years . Through all of this one far recess of this athletic field was never touched by the bulldozers and backhoes . Sitting in this corner under some trees are two old buses , abandoned all those years ago . I remember a meter when they looked care they could just be start up and driven aside , but metre , the elements and man have ask their toll on them . The tires have rot , the windows dash and graffito report virtually every in .

Recently new construction has again change the landscape . The grass have been cleared and the land sculpted in preparation for new construction to come . Inexplicably these two buses have once again escaped the notice of the construction machinery that trawls back and forward across the field . They are almost hidden from view now as the res publica vary around them yet they stay unaffected , sitting alone among the wildflowers in the corner of the field .

Although not a building or other part of the lasting infrastructure I still thought these buses would make a groovy content for this challenge . I take this exposure in the former cockcrow sun on my room to work out . Taken with a Canon Rebel Xsi , f/7.1 , photograph metre 1/80s , ISO 200 , Focal distance 55 mm . Color enhanced in dynamical Light HD for iPad .

Oxford

Given its historic period and the vast number of weather I. F. Stone buildings it stop , it took a surprisingly longsighted metre roaming around Oxford , England to rule a suitable urban decay scene . The place is amazingly well - maintain . I define out to find oneself grasses growing in between bricks that had pushed them around over time ; however , the submitted pic was taken in a nice neighborhood of Oxford — Jericho . It was n’t just the disrobe paint that pull me to the scenery , it was the rusted screw model there , like someone could n’t be bothered to verify their logic gate was functioning by rights , let alone repaint it , and also the contrasting overgrown cherry-red vine . Blue Wall

This old Napa auto parts building has been devolve for year now . I actually apply the bulwark as a backdrop for portrayal I shoot in town . Shot a little belatedly in the 24-hour interval so I had to crank the ISO to 1600 . Shot RAW with D90 , 18 - 70DX at F3.5 . Processed in Lightroom .

Theater In the Clouds

The minute I experience your ad , I knew I had to blast this theater I see while walking around Newark . The Proctor ’s Palace Theater was an eight - chronicle building complex with a large 2 , 300 - seat field of operations at ground level and a small theatre of about 900 seats occupying the top four floor beneath the roof . build in 1915 , designed by architect John W. Merrow in business district Newark . alas , the theater was one of the many places that closed down as a result of the infamous Newark orgy of 1967 . Since that time , Newark fall into a state of urban declivity , causing places like the Proctor ’s sit vacant , unnoticed . This photo was taken on the top floor of the complex , referred to as the “ cap theater ” . The cloud blind was by far the most enchanting thing I have envision in an abandoned construction in quite some fourth dimension , it was painted to create an atmospheric feel to the theater . It is awful how beautifully built theaters were back in the twenty-four hour period . I feel this photograph stage urban decay in a different light than broken down , dilapidated building . There is still a beauty to this double , this theater . Something you do n’t often see . This photograph was taken on a Hasselblad 501CM with Kodak Portra 160VC film . It was shot at f/16 at one s .

Nature Taking it Back

This pictures shows an interesting house in the neighborhood of Nunoa , in Santiago , Chile . The neighborhood is very well cared both by the municipality and by the masses living here , and this house just stand out with its barbarian nature . I ’m not sure if ther eis people still live there , but if there is , they ’re loose the struggle against Nature ! Canon 60D , ISO : 100 , Aperture : F/6.3 , Lens : Tamron 10 - 24 mm panoptic slant , photo : HDR mental image with 11 pictures , 0.5EV step , keystone at 1/125

Eastern State Penitentiary

I pip this using a 20 mm lens and my Nikon D700 . It was taken at Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia . This was my first time here , and it was kind of a last minute misstep . It ’s a great place with amazing phantasm , tune , and a retentive history .

I had no idea this week ’s challenge would be such a hit , but apparently you ’re all as obsessed with our fragile infrastructure as I am . Our lead shot was so striking , a mixture of warm coloring material , colossal new technology and all these hints of nature collecting its toll , but male child did I wish Patient Zero and Theater in the Clouds … it was a tough hebdomad to choose a winner , so I ’m hitting publish on this post before I inevitably commute by nous one hundred more times . There are a number of grotesque photograph in the gallery below ; do n’t pretermit them . Find the wallpapers , as always , onflickr .
